Volunteering is fun!
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do. We have two programs that offer volunteers different levels of involvement and time commitment. In both programs, life-enriching relationships are developed between the Big and the Little.
Site-based mentoring (Lunch Buddy)
Lunch Buddy Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor… it’s about being a friend.
Community-based mentoring
It’s easy, too. Your Little can join you for the kinds of activities you already like to do, such as:
• Shooting hoops
• Playing a board game
• Making cookies
• Sharing a pizza
• Taking a walk in the park
• Or, just hanging out and talking.
Just a few hours a month can change
a young person’s life.
Depending on the Big Brothers Big Sisters program you’re in, you will meet your Little at his or her school or in the community.

Little Brothers and Little Sisters come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are really little (as young as six) and some are teenagers. Some may live on your block and some a few miles away. What do they all have in common?
They need the friendship and guidance
of someone like YOU.
In many ways, children face problems today that many of us never dealt with when we were kids. Yet even tough situations are easier when children have a Big Brother or Big Sister to look out for them.
• A Big is a trusted friend, caring mentor and life-changing role model.
• Bigs listen without judging.
• Bigs encourage discovery of interests and talents.
And ultimately, help their Little grow into a confident, capable, contributing adult.
“As a Big, you're simply a friend. Your friendship fits your lifestyle. Busy people of all ages can get involved. Choose the program that works best for you!”
– Ron, age 54, Big Brother
